Portola Valley and Woodside Earth Fair

 

Celebrate Earth Day This Year at the Portola Valley Town Center!

Join your Portola Valley and Woodside friends and neighbors at the beautiful Portola Valley Town Center on April 28th from 11 am to 2:30 pm for a day of fun and discoveries.

  • Earth Fair Exhibitors – Learn about recycling, renewable energy, water and energy conservation, fuel cell vehicles and more.

  • RAFFLE! Enter to win Echo Plus with built-in Hub and Alexa controlled energy efficiency devices including Philips LED Bulbs, Wireless Mini Smart Plug Outlets and WiFi Smart Power Strip (one entry per person; need not be present to win)!

  • Live Music Big Basin Music

  • Spring Down Open Space Preserve Tours  Take a guided tour of the new open space and suggest names for the vernal pond. For full details, please click here. Tours conducted by Portola Valley Conversation Committee.

 

Entertainment and Fun Activities For Kids

  • Fire & Ice Show @ 11:30 am A spectacular demonstration of “magical” chemical potions, the wonders of dry ice, and the dynamics of air pressure.
  • Juggling Show @ 1:00 pm – Comedy, magic, juggling, and audience participation that entertains kids of all ages while learning practical tips on protecting the environment.
  • Face Painting & All Natural Organic Henna  Wearable art that adds extra sparkle to any day.
  • Clay Creation – Make your own clay creations with art teacher Jeanie.
  • Sonic Sounds, From 12:15 2:15 pm Uncover the source of sound! Tap into sound waves and fill your ears with vibrations. Create sound effects and change the pitch of your voice.
  • Slippery Science, From 12:15 – 2:15 pm It's ooey. It's gooey. It's slime! Or at least it is after you mix the two chemicals that put the ooh and the goo into slime!
  • San Mateo County Library’s Lookmobile, Starting at 11 am – An interactive mobile library designed to increase hands-on learning opportunities.

  • Free Compost, Starting at 11 am –  Provided by Greenwaste (up to 2 bags, while supplies lasted).
  • Free Document Shredding, Starting at 11 am A Shred-It truck will be on-site where your personal documents will be securely destroyed and recycled (maximum of 10 boxes/bags per household).
