Planning Commissioner Position Open
The Town Council is seeking a volunteer to serve on the Town's Planning Commission for a four-year term ending January 2021.
The Planning Commission is responsible for addressing policy matters related to general land use and development, and provides recommendations to the Town Council on legislative actions such as amendments to the Zoning Code and the General Plan.
The Planning Commission utilizes the General Plan to ensure adherence to the preservation and enhancement of the natural features and open space in Portola Valley. The conservation of the rural quality of the Town through subservience of buildings to the natural setting is a critical component of the Town’s ethos.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Town’s critical volunteer decision-making system and help ensure Portola Valley’s rural character.
The Planning Commission consists of five members that are appointed by the Town Council. The Commission meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month.
To apply, please submit a letter of interest to the Town Council by 5 pm on Friday, December 1, 2017. Letters can be emailed to Towncenter@portolavalley.net or mailed via US Postal Service to: Town Council 765 Portola Road, Portola Valley, CA 94028. The Town Council will conduct interviews at its regularly scheduled meeting on December 13, 2017.
If you have questions or would like additional information, please contact Debbie Pedro, Planning Director, at Towncenter@portolavalley.net or call (650) 851-1700 Ext. 218.
