Reminder Notice of Street Resurfacing – temporary closure of streets
Post Date:07/15/2019 9:07 AM
The Town of Portola Valley will be performing street resurfacing beginning June 24th until August 9th. If your street is being resurfaced, you will have seen the signs posted over the last few weeks.
This week, several streets will be closed from 8-5 for the slurry seal process. The streets scheduled to be slurry sealed will be temporarily closed to traffic until it is dry. Please plan to leave by 8 am or stay in your house all day if you live on one of the affected streets.
We know not being able to drive on the streets from 8-5 on is an inconvenience. If you use one of the streets on the chart as a driving route or live on a small connecting street you will need to plan accordingly. We appreciate your patience. We will only do a certain street every 6-8 years and by doing the sealing process all in one day we will have a long lasting and good looking streets.
This project will consist of asphalt repairs and applying surface seals to the road surface. Work is scheduled to take place on the streets listed here, weather permitting. The repairs will include grinding worn areas, crack sealing, a surface seal treatment, and repainting traffic markings.
The contractor will be hand delivering printed notices to residents 2 days in advance indicating the exact date your street is scheduled for the surface seal treatment phase which may affect access until the surface has cured and dried enough to allow traffic. Please do not water or drive on surfaces until dried, it will affect the final look of the product and track onto surfaces. The garbage company and postal service will also be notified to make arrangements. If they are doing work on your street on garbage day get your bins out by 6 AM.
