WFPD Annual Inspections

At the Jan-15-2025 WPC meeting, Fire Marshal Kim Giuliacci gave an update on the WFPD annual inspections mandated by the 24-01 Ordinance. WFPD is covering 12 inspection zones over 3 years.
- Year 1 launched in Woodside zones 1-4 in Jun-2024 and is about halfway done.
- Parts of PV will begin in 2025 with zones 5-8.
- Ladera and most of PV are in Zones 9-12, which will start in 2026.
So far, the biggest issue has been that about 20% of Woodside homeowners were not present for the inspection. The inspections entail a lot of education and outreach, so WFPD leaves a door tag with a request to schedule an appointment. But, only 5 of the absent homeowners responded to the door tags. As a result, WFPD will be sending letters requiring the non-responsive owners to schedule an appointment within 10 days to avoid enforcement action.
We live in a high fire area. The best way to protect our community is to embrace WFPD’s inspections and take wildfire mitigation seriously. WFPD’s Home Assessments page explains the process and has a self-assessment checklist. You don’t have to wait for the annual inspection to start working on your structures’ wildfire preparedness now.
