COVID-19 Building and Planning Services update
Through the Town's General Plan, Portola Valley residents have expressed their strong common interest in preserving the small town character and natural conditions of the area. Therefore, most building, grading or other land improvement activities are subject to Town permit requirements. In that light, the Town's Building, Engineering and Planning staff serve as a check point for meeting Town guidelines and regulations, providing residents with assistance and advice on Town policies and procedures in association with proposed project development.
As the Town moves forward with the recent adoption of a Green Building Ordinance, we would like architects, residents, and contractors to become more familiar with sustainable building techniques and materials as well as the Green Point Rating System used by Build It Green (BIG). Beginning July 1, 2010, all ASCC applications must be accompanied by a completed BIG checklist, either for a new residence or an addition/remodel, as applicable, and specific point thresholds must be met as identified by the ordinance.
