Recently, the Town commissioned an independent survey to better understand resident priorities and Town service needs. More than 90% of respondents said they were satisfied with the services the Town provides. Thank you to everyone who took the time to participate—your feedback is truly appreciated and helps guide important community decisions.

Through the survey, Portola Valley residents identified the need to be prepared for natural disasters such as wildfires, earthquakes, flooding, or landslides. Community priorities include prevention measures, evacuation planning, and reliable emergency response communication systems to help keep residents safe.

In addition, Portola Valley residents responded that they wish to protect our Town autonomy and our ability to make our own zoning decisions as an incorporated community. Survey responses indicated that residents do not want zoning and planning decisions to be made by the County, which would occur if the Town lost its independent status.

We want to continue hearing from more residents. Please share your perspectives by participating in our new community survey about protecting emergency services and ensuring our Town’s financial stability and help shape the future of Portola Valley.
