This class will introduce young students to the initial concepts of martial arts, including self-discipline, confidence, and respect for their opponents through the use of karate techniques. Students receive a free gi (uniform) when they sign up for the quarter.

About the Instructor...
Mike Agoff is a long time Peninsula resident who is an accomplished martial artist and former law enforcement officer. He has been teaching martial arts for over 30 years, and for the last 20 years he has led a popular program in the Portola Valley area. During that time, several of his students became national champions in forms and sparring.
Mike has extensive experience training children, teens and adults in a variety of arts including Hapkido, Tang Soo Do, Jeet Kune Do Concepts, Filipino Martial Arts, and Silat. Using his diverse background, Mike has developed a unique system of practical and realistic self defense. In all of his classes, Mike stresses the value of self defense as well as emphasizing the importance of self-discipline and respect for others. Mike has also been an instructor for a number of government agencies including DEA, FBI, Secret Service, the U.S. State Department and military personnel.
In addition to teaching in Portola Valley and at his own studio in Belmont, Mike is currently a defensive tactics instructor at the Police Academy in San Mateo.
